HKI/Nepal is working to improve the nutritional status of women and young children through evidence-based research and programs. Helen Keller International (HKI), CARE, FHI 360, Nepali Technical Assistance Group (NTAG), Equal Access Nepal (EAN), Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO), Vijaya Development Resource Centre (VDRC) is implementing USAID funded Suaahara II Program (SP II) in 42 districts, applications are invited from interested, committed, dynamic team players and experienced Nepali nationals for the following position:
Job Purpose:
The primary function of the Legal Advisor is to provide reliable, accurate, timely and well-informed legal advice to the HKI/Nepal Management Team on organizational human resource policy and procedural matters in reference to the host government-related policies and laws, as and when needed.
The Advisor will be expected to provide legal guidance, organizing relevant orientations on Nepal legal information, creating legal documents and advising HKI-Nepal on all relevant legal issues that may arise.
The Advisor will provide advice that includes legal aspects of the analysis of investigations conducted by the organization and drafting of legal opinions and briefs. He/she is responsible for providing support on discrete legal issues by advising the organization, drafting undertakings and recommendations on relevant issues. The Advisor may also be engaged in helping to analyze evidence drawn from investigations and guiding decisions according to the host country law.
Essential Skills and Abilities
- BA LLB; licensed as an Advocate by Nepal Bar Council with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working with I/NGO, government organizations or commercial business houses.
- Well informed in all prevailing laws and regulations currently in practice, especially those related to labor, registration, and taxation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide legal recommendations and appropriate legal responses to pressing issues
- Ability to provide opinions and guidance in English.
Timeline and Remuneration: The duration of this contract will be on a “retainer” basis for a period of 1 year with the possibility of renewal if agreeable to both parties.
