Project Overview:
The Assessments and Research on Child Feeding (ARCH) Project is a Helen Keller International project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Improving nutrition and child survival has been at the core of HKI’s mission for more than 40 years. ARCH is being undertaken in Nepal, Cambodia, Senegal and Tanzania and aims to make information available on how the promotion of foods influences the food choices that families make for infants and young children and to provide the evidence base to guide the development of policies and programs related to infant and young child nutrition. In its third phase, one of the activities of ARCH Nepal is study around infant and young children feeding. In this regard, a qualitative study to assess cognitive ability of the mothers with children 6-23 months of age to comprehend the additional questionnaires related to IYCF to be incorporated in the DHS will be conducted. The consultant will be involved in data collection, management, analysis and report writing. The consultant will work in close coordination with Research Manager and Sr. Project Officer.
Summary of the key tasks to be performed:
I. Identification of research participants in close coordination with ARCH staff.
II. Conduct in-depth interviews with mothers of children 6-23 months of age.
III. Manage the data collected through in-depth interviews.
IV. Data analysis
V. Prepare study report.
VI. Follow Helen Keller International research ethics standard.
Deliverables
I. Data collected, managed, and analyzed.
II. Study report prepared.
Desired Qualities
• Master’s degree in public health, nutrition, or related field.
• Sound knowledge on qualitative research methods.
• Experienced in conducting qualitative data collection, management, and analysis.
• Knowledge and skill in using NVivo preferable.
